We look forward to welcoming your child to the Ogmore Centre Trust. In this letter you will find information regarding your child's visit.
| YOUR CHILD SHOULD BRING
1. Sleeping bag and pillow 2. Night clothes and toiletries 3. General change of clothes and shoes suitable for walking 4. An outdoor jacket, waterproof if possible 5. Trainers for use in the sports hall 6. Items specific to individual course Please do not allow your child to bring the following: Mobile Phone, radio, personal hi-fi, electronic games or expensive toys. For the safety and comfort of others we ask residents not to bring aerosols to the centre Tuck Shop We suggest that no pupil brings more than £10.00 spending money. Please bring some loose change. The Centre has a shop that sells sweets, chocolates and souvenirs. These include pens, pencils, badges and key rings. The Bedrooms Each floor in the dormitory block has two five bedded rooms. We always do our very best to keep friends together. All floors have a separate teacher's room. A teacher supervises each floor throughout the night. A female teacher always looks after girls. Meals Three cooked meals are provided each day, breakfast, lunch and supper, with a variety of foods to suit all tastes. Vegetarian meals are available at all mealtimes. Children with special dietary requirements can be catered for. Please inform us a week in advance so that necessary arrangements can be made. Please remember to include this information on the Medical Form. The Telephone The Centre has payphones. The children have access to this during free time, however they are not encouraged to phone on their first night. We will contact you immediately there is a problem with health or homesickness. If you have any concerns, you are welcome to phone the office (01656 880646). Out of Office Hours your calls are automatically diverted to the Centre answer phone -please have a pen ready to note the emergency contact number. |
The Programme The programme is structured to support the school curriculum. All children are encouraged to try all activities. Evening activities include games, a disco, quizzes etc. Care Minor accidents or illnesses will be treated as soon as is possible by our local hospital e.g. - stitches for minor cut, precautionary X ray, provision of antibiotics for infection etc. Parents will be contacted before treatment is administered. An experienced member of staff will accompany each child when visiting the hospital. Discipline To ensure the smooth running of the Centre a number of simple , sensible rules are obviously necessary. These are made known to children on arrival and our policy is to administer them in a fair and sympathetic spirit. Our aim is to ensure a happy time for all at the Centre. Problems Please ensure that your child visits the Main Office at the Centre should any problems arise so that the matter can be dealt with immediately. Medical Form It is important that each child brings the MEDICAL FORM to the Centre with details of any illness or problem which the child may have and a telephone number should we need to contact the parents or family. Complaints If you have any enquiries regarding the Centre's arrangements or any problem arising from your child's stay at Ogmore Centre Trust please contact us immediately. Transport Transport to and from the Centre is the responsibility of the Parents / School. Registration Time is dependent of start of course. Children are responsibility of Parent / Carer until registration. Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to registration
